$9200 - A cherry Huntboard in great color. Poplar, pine and hickory secondary. Ca. early 19th C. "Huntboard" appears to be a twentieth century term for what Southerners historically referred to in their inventories as slabs or sideboards. They typically have taller legs than sideboards and contain fewer drawers or cabinets. There is a myth that these serving pieces were often carried outside to provide refreshments for men just back from a hunt, but scholars now believe most slabs stayed inside the house. #6-9037- 9250

$2100 - A very special and really spiffy & elegant Federal tilt top candle stand with drawer, on carved spider legs with spade feet. The top is inlaid with "L D". The drawer acts as the tilt-top lock which is a neat little Yankee ingenuity. This is made from Cherry with Birds-eye maple drawer fronts and bass wood secondary. SOLD $5500 - An important Shaftsbury Vermont, Ca. 1830's Late Federal Classical or Empire sideboard of figured tiger maple and mahogany, two drawers over large inlaid overset drawer over beveled paneled doors with center inlaid candle drawers, full turned tiger maple columns, acanthus carved paw feet. The broken scroll pediment backsplash is of solid tiger maple. This one is quite successful and appealing. 57" high by 47" wide by 23" deep.#6-9037-6550
