Carl Shreve, WWII poster "Semper Fidelis", 1943. McCandlish Litho, Philadelphia. Two contemporary, battle-scarred marines are rushing off into the thick of a battle to the ethereal beat of a drummer from their corps' history. For 168 years the Marines have been "always faithful" and the history of their strength and resolve is captured in both the coiled serpent "Don't Tread on me" symbol on the Colonial-era Marine's drum.     This poster measures 22" x 13 1/4". It shows a destitute Polish family standing on rubble. Also pictured is the famous pianist and composer Ignancy Paderewski who, during WWI, was a leader in Polish organizations. After the Versailles Peace Treaty was signed in 1917, he became Poland's Prime minister. He was a fascinating man, loved by many nations. The bottom corner emblem says " Allied Printing Trades Council Union Label New York 154". It is made on hard cardboard. The corners are chipped and there is a line of dirt by the woman's head, as you can see
