Federal Tea Set. New York Ca 1790 18th C. New York Neoclassical Federal Sterling Tea Service. Maker's mark of John Sayre, worked Southampton N.Y. & New York N.Y. circa 1790 Comprising teapot, covered sugar bowl, and cream jug; the rims bright-cut engraved with bands of swagging & ribbons, the side engraved with crossed fronds enclosing on one side the monogram TAW, the teapot with wood handle (nicely reglued old break), high-domed hinged cover with urn-form finials, marked under base and rim of foot.
